About NAPOP
We are a Norwegian clean-energy and industrial solutions company developing integrated energy come industrial solutions built on deep expertise in water treatment, hydrogen technologies, energy management, and closed-loop production.

NAPOP is present in the entire new zero-loss full-circle utilisation production value chain:
-
Delivering energy conversion technologies using green hydrogen and biomethanol producing grid independent zero-emission electric power and heat/ thermal energy.
-
Establishing new energy infrastructures including safety and compliance, storage, transportation and energy management.
-
Delivering new fuels; Hydrogen and Biomethanol.
-
Producing integrated symbiotic zero-waste electrolysis production platforms incorporating oxygen and heat offtake.

The inception
NAPOP was established in 2021 inspired by “TYRVI Hydrogen Value Chains” – a regional project addressing local opportunities arising in the wake of the emerging new hydrogen markets.
This project was initiated and executed by the founders of NAPOP and funded by local business communities and the region’s municipalities. The region in question included the upper Drammen river system comprising a significant number of unregulated (run-off-river) hydroelectric powerplants.
The prospect of using “surplus” water for hydrogen production via electrolysis together with the associated improvements in power-station operations and grid interfaces, prompted the establishment of NAPOP.
The missing links in the hydrogen value chain has been embraced by NAPOP and is evident when looking at the company’s involvements, achievements and milestones.:
The journey begins
2021
Established–inspired by“TYRVI Hydrogen Value Chains”–a regional project addressing the emerging new hydrogen markets and potential opportunitiesfor the upper Drammen river system comprising several unregulated (run-off-river) powerplants. The prospect of using surplus water for hydrogen production using electrolysis as well as missing links in the hydrogen valuechain, prompted theestablishment of NAPOP. We started addressing sectors in demand of alternatives to fossil energy-carriers to establish potentialofftakes of hydrogen
Initial market focus: Building and construction industries/ temporary and mobile requirements:
Electric power:
Independent zero emission power production for general power/ charging (heavy construction machinery/ mobile battery-charger units). This initiated a collaboration with EODev, a company partly owned by Toyota, producing (among others) mobile hydrogen generators. NAPOP imported an early generation EODev machine and identified necessary adaptations for heavy-duty Nordic operations, which have since been incorporated into the manufacturer's later models.
Heat:
Independent zero emission heat/ thermal production for heating, drying, hardening and thawing. Historically, the NAPOP founders were engaged in the development of catalytic thermal combustion (CTC) technologies, which enables the transformation of hydrogen into thermal energy without open flames, facilitating low-temperature combustion."
2022
NAPOP’s continued work with EODev, resulted in NAPOP ES (Energy Station), a product/ service comprising the establishment of infrastructure required for hydrogen-operations at building-/ construction sites. The ES delivers grid independent seamless electric energy for general requirements/ charging.
NAPOP ES product/service was defined and includes:
Electric power:
Safety: NAPOP developed a compliance plan for the use of hydrogen at building and construction sites including
Infrastructure: The delivery include transport and storage of hydrogen at site.
Conversion of energy stored in hydrogen to electric power: The GEH2 V4 (EODev) hydrogen fuel cell generator was assessed for heavy duty/ continuous operations at-site/ all year.
Worlds first hydrogen-powered building site:
2023
The world’s first zero emission construction site using hydrogen was put in operation (from December 2022 to May 2023 (Kruttverkveien)), NAPOP being responsible for establishing necessary hydrogen infrastructure, safety and power (delivering the NAPOP ES product/ service).
NAPOP was awarded a grant from Innovation Norway to further assess the NAPOP CTC-technology. This resulted in the building and testing of two prototypes (125 and 225 kW).
Emerging from our hydrogen production strategy based on electrolysis – exploiting its entire potential - utilising also oxygen and heat generated from the process (every single kilo of hydrogen produced electrolytically, generates 8 kilos of oxygen and 12 kWh waterborne commercial heat), the circular Integrated Symbiotic Industrial Park (ISI-P) concept was born.
2024
NAPOP was granted aquaculture licenses (Rendalen, Norway) and secured land for establishing ISI-P mistra, including hydrogen production from electrolysis.
NAPOP delivered Miljøgate Gran, the Norwegian Public Road Administrations first “next-to-zero” road construction project – which was partly powered by hydrogen (2024/ 2025). NAPOP operated and delivered power to an off-grid rigging site for a period of 10 months. https://vegvesen.brage.unit.no/vegvesen-xmlui/handle/11250/3189401?locale-attribute=en.
Our ES product/ services was used during RG’s Total Solutions Days at Gardermoen in December 2024.
Initial planning of the realisation of ISI-P mistra was initiated.
VIRIDIH2 AS: Established to build and operate the hydrogen and energy installations included in the ISI-P concept.
PISCI AS: Established to build and operate the landbased recirculating ISI-P landbased recirculating aquaculture system (LRAS).
2025
NAPOP was granted funding from Innovation Norway to initiate the industrialisation of CTC 250 M/T – a 250 kW mobile “district heating” unit producing waterborne heat (up to 100°C).
In 2021, NAPOP signed a LOI with DRIV energi. This materialised in the establishment of DRIV hydrogen in 2025.
DRIV hydrogen operate a hydrogen production facility at Kløfta, Norway with a capacity at ~250 kg H₂/day (≈ 91 t/year) at full utilization by reformation of biomethanol.
This facility enable NAPOP to provide sustainable hydrogen and related services to the hydrogen industry. These services include commissioning (e.g. flushing with hydrogen to remove N₂/ impurities) of MEGC’s (in heated controlled atmospheres, so-called warm flushing).
NAPOP secured regulated land for the establishment of an ISI-P facility at Krødsherad, Buskerud, Norway. Initial planning of ISI-P krødr was initiated.
NAPOP Intellectual Property (IP) Assets – followed by CTC:
CTC:
NAPOP applied for patent protection of the CTC technology on 22.12.2022 (GB2219543.29 published on 27.06.2024 (WO2024/133627) see.
This covers (Norway), Europe, US, China, Japan and South Korea.
ISI-P:
The ISI-P concept was developed, resulting in the filing of a patent application (filed by VIRIDIH2 on 03.11.2023 and published 08.05.2025 (WO2025/093251). The application was granted (in Norway, remaining territories pending) on 07.07.2025 (https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=WO2025093251).
